Test any proxy in seconds with our free online proxy checker. Verify IP address, anonymity level, latency, and protocol support — no signup needed. Supports HTTP, HTTPS, SOCKS4, SOCKS5, and mobile proxies.
Knowing whether a proxy is working before you use it is non-negotiable. A bad proxy wastes requests, triggers bans, and — worst of all — leaks your real IP. Our free proxy checker tool tests any proxy in seconds and gives you the full picture: working or not, what IP it returns, how anonymous it is, and how fast it responds.
A proxy checker (also called a proxy tester) is a tool that sends a test request through your proxy and analyzes the response. It tells you:
Is the proxy alive? Can it make an outbound connection at all? What IP does it return? Is it the proxy IP, your real IP, or something unexpected? What anonymity level is it? Transparent, anonymous, or elite? What is its latency? Response time in milliseconds What protocol does it use? HTTP, HTTPS, SOCKS4, SOCKS5
Without a proxy checker, you're flying blind. A proxy that appears to be "working" in your network config might still be forwarding your real IP in headers — a silent, dangerous leak.

No account required. Paste any proxy in host:port or host:port:user:pass format and get instant results.
The most important thing a proxy tester reveals is the anonymity level. There are three tiers:
The server cannot detect you're using a proxy. Your real IP is hidden. No X-Forwarded-For, Via, or Proxy-Connection headers are sent. The target site sees the proxy IP as a normal visitor.
Best for: scraping, multi-account management, avoiding bot detection.
The server knows a proxy is in use (via Via or Proxy-Connection headers) but cannot see your real IP. Some sites block anonymous proxies outright.
Best for: general privacy, bypassing geo-restrictions when detection doesn't matter.
The server sees both the proxy IP and your real IP (via X-Forwarded-For: your.real.ip). These proxies provide zero anonymity and should never be used for anything privacy-sensitive.
Best for: caching and network optimization only — not for privacy.
| Anonymity Level | Proxy IP Visible | Real IP Visible | Headers Leaked | |---|---|---|---| | Elite (Level 1) | ✓ | ✗ | None | | Anonymous (Level 2) | ✓ | ✗ | Via, Proxy-Connection | | Transparent (Level 3) | ✓ | ✓ | X-Forwarded-For with your real IP |
Step 1 — Format your proxy
Paste in one of these formats:
Step 2 — Choose test target (optional)
The default test target is a neutral IP detection endpoint. You can change it to test against a specific site (e.g., a streaming service or marketplace).
Step 3 — Read the results
| Result Field | What It Tells You | |---|---| | Status | Working / Dead / Timeout | | Returned IP | The IP the proxy presents to the world | | Real IP Leak | Your real IP if found in response headers | | Anonymity | Elite / Anonymous / Transparent | | Latency (ms) | Round-trip time through the proxy | | Protocol | Detected proxy protocol | | Country | Geolocation of the proxy exit IP |
A proxy checker gives you data — but you also need to know what "good" looks like:
Latency
| Latency | Quality | Use case | |---|---|---| | 1000ms | Poor | Avoid for most use cases |
Anonymity: For anything beyond simple geo-unblocking, use Elite only.
IP rotation: A good proxy isn't just about the current check — it should rotate. Static proxies that never change IPs get blocked faster. Rotating mobile proxies maintain fresh exit IPs automatically.
IP quality: The IP should not appear on public blocklists (Spamhaus, AbuseIPDB). Our proxy checker cross-references the exit IP against common blocklists.
If you collected a list of free HTTP proxies from the internet, you'll find that most fail the checker within hours:
Overloaded: Thousands of users hit the same proxy simultaneously — latency spikes to 5000ms+ Dead: Free proxy lists are scraped and rarely updated. 80-90% of entries are offline Transparent: Many "free" proxies are just misconfigured company routers that expose your real IP Honeypots: Some free proxies are operated by threat actors who log your traffic
The checker will expose all of these. If you're seeing mostly red (dead), transparent anonymity, or 3000ms+ latency — it's time to upgrade to a real proxy.
